AI and robotics will shape the future of agriculture: experts

LUCKNOW: Artificial intelligence and robotics will shape the future of agriculture by reducing carbon emissions and increasing productivity, experts said at a two-day international conference on “Unlocking Smart Agriculture with AI and Robotics for Vikshit Bharat'', which opened on Monday. The event was organized by Integral University's Integral Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (IIAST) in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research (UPCAR).Under the vision of Vikshit Bharat, the program aims to promote technology-driven approaches to strengthen agriculture in India. Academics, scientists, policy makers, industry representatives, agricultural entrepreneurs and farmers from India and abroad came together to discuss the use of AI and robotics for sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing and Agricultural Trade, who was the guest of honor, said technology and horticulture are key to ensuring food security and agricultural growth.Professor Punjab Singh, Dean of Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University in Jhansi, pointed to the impacts of climate change, water scarcity and land degradation and said AI-based agriculture could help address these concerns.
