Mohammed Abdul Salam, director of the National Lottery Agency (NLA), highlighted the urgent need for the NLA to bolster its efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into its systems, in response to the surprising global surge in mobile fraud and cybercrime.
He issued this statement about a bystander at a seminar hosted by the African Lottery Association (ALA) in Abidjan, Cote Dyboir.
The ALA seminar was officially opened by ALA Vice President and PMU Director Mari and Doumbia Fassery, focusing on the theatrical role of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in the gaming sector.
The seminar featured presentations on understanding the connection between artificial intelligence and security, fraud detection, data analysis and operational intelligence, as well as the challenges of lottery cybersecurity in the age of AI.
There was also a demonstration by experts who use sophisticated AI tools to prevent mobile fraud in the lottery industry, as well as a panel discussion featuring European lottery legal counsel Philippe Vlaemminck and digital law expert Dr. Coulibali Ibrahim.

WLA Executive Director Luca Esposito urged ALA members to adopt the use of artificial intelligence within the lottery framework along with the lottery to address the challenges.
NLA Director Abdul Salam, who is a bystander at the seminar, has repeatedly made his commitment to fighting fraud. He said the seminar was insightful and would put a burden on the authority to strengthen efforts to combat the activities of con artists. “We are using our images to seduce people to fraudulently sums of money on unsuspecting people, so this is a wake-up call to adopt the use of these technical solutions to address the issues of mobile fraud and cybercrime,” he said.
The ALA seminar on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity provided a collaborative platform for ALA members, executives, regulators and industry stakeholders to come together to identify the threats they face and address them by sharing experiences from various jurisdictions.
