Adobe announced new AI-related video capabilities for Premiere and After Effects and approximately $10 million in creator grants through the Film & TV Fund.
The company positioned the product update as a change to post-production workflows for filmmakers and video teams. He also pointed to the festival’s presence at the Sundance Film Festival, where he said 85% of films use Adobe products, according to a study by the Sundance Institute.
According to Adobe, Premiere is now connected with Firefly Boards, an AI-powered ideation workspace. Adobe said the integration will allow teams to work together on concepts. Firefly Boards said it can use AI models from Adobe as well as third parties such as Google, OpenAI, and Runway.

Adobe has listed new masking features for Premiere. The tool reduces the time required for some tasks, such as rotoscoping.
Adobe said the new Object Selection and Mask feature changes the way editors select and mask subjects. This feature speeds up tracking of complex subjects. He also said this feature simplifies his workflow.
Adobe also explained changes to shape masks in Premiere. He said redesigned oval, rectangle, and pen masks give you more control when applying effects like blurring faces or relighting parts of the frame.
The company also announced a new Adobe Stock panel within Premiere. This integration will allow users to view, preview, license and import content without leaving the application. Adobe estimates the catalog size to be over 52 million clips.
After Effects changes
Adobe also announced a major release of After Effects. The update includes changes to 3D functionality, typography, and vector workflows, the company said.
According to Adobe, After Effects now supports native 3D parametric meshes. He said users can design and customize 3D shapes using parametric meshes and combinable shapes. Adobe also listed new spot shadows and parallel shadows.
The company also said it will be adding more than 1,300 free Substance 3D materials. He said users can apply materials to native meshes and imported meshes. It also states that materials have properties that can be animated.
Adobe also discussed updates to variable font animation in After Effects. It says additions to the Text Animator system include support for keyframes, expressions, and additional controls for titles and templates.
When it comes to vector workflows, After Effects includes tools to import SVGs as native shape layers, according to Adobe. The tool claims to preserve Illustrator’s editable gradients and transparency.

Adobe has positioned the Premiere integration as part of the broader development of its Firefly product line. Firefly is described as an all-in-one creative AI studio. The company says Firefly offers AI models along with tools for design, imaging, video, audio, and motion work.
Adobe also mentioned recent updates to Firefly. It cites “precise control with prompt-based editing and improved camera motion.” We also mentioned the public beta of the Firefly video editor that runs in your browser. The company described it as an assembly space for combining generated clips, footage, graphics, and audio.
Adobe also reiterated its partnership with Runway. The deal is said to span multiple years. The partnership will cover AI video models across Adobe workflows.

How to use Sundance
According to Adobe, research from the Sundance Institute found that 85% of 2026 applicants used Adobe Creative Cloud applications. The company cites Premiere, Frame.io, After Effects, Photoshop, and Substance 3D Collection as tools it uses.
Adobe also listed films it claims were cut at the premiere and premiered at Sundance. Titles include “Chasing Summer,” “Wicker,” “The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist,” “Union County,” “Zi,” “The Moment,” and “The Brittney Griner Story.”

Alongside the software update, Adobe announced a $10 million donation and product donation commitment through the Adobe Film & TV Fund in 2026. The company said it has already pledged US$10 million since the fund’s launch in 2024. He said the total amount of donations and donated products over the three years will reach US$20 million.
Adobe said the fund will cover grants, professional video tools, career development, fellowships, apprenticeships, and training. Participants include people from programs such as Gold House, Rideback RISE, and Sundance Ignite.
Adobe also announced that it is partnering with Sundance Institute to introduce Ignite Day. The program is aimed at up-and-coming creators between the ages of 18 and 25, the company said. Adobe says Ignite Day will include hands-on learning, mentoring, and “creative interactions.”
