Adobe has updated the Photoshop desktop (beta) app with a new Generative Fill AI feature that can be accessed using natural language prompts. You can use these prompts to add content, remove or replace parts of the image, or extend the edges of the image. Adobe has also created a new generative layer type to help you work non-destructively.
Generative Fill is a magical new experience that allows you to non-destructively add, extend, or remove image content using simple text prompts, delivering realistic results that surprise, delight, and dazzle in seconds. Generative Fill automatically matches the perspective, lighting, and style of your images to speed up previously time-consuming tasks and deliver truly amazing and pleasing results.
Generative Fill is integrated into all of Photoshop’s selection tools to generate all-new ‘Generative Layers’ for non-destructive workflows. Additionally, Adobe has added a new contextual taskbar to Photoshop that makes it easier to generate new content. Every time you make a selection, a contextual taskbar with a generative fill button will appear on the screen, giving you the option to continue with your normal selection workflow or try generating something new, such as an advanced crop.
