The Chinese embassy in Washington briefly posted an AI-generated video mocking a security summit hosted by President Donald Trump and warning about “hostile foreign influence” days after the president took the stage. The short animation was posted on the embassy’s X account on Wednesday and removed early Friday. The video, produced by Xinhua news agency, was titled “A shield for the Americas or a shackle for the Americas?” It comes as the United States continues its war with Iran in West Asia. The conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched pre-emptive strikes under Operation Epic Fury and Operation Lion’s Roar.
Animated clip taking aim at President Trump’s national security proposal

The 18-second animation depicts a bald eagle in a suit leading a flock of white pigeons representing Latin American countries.
In the video, the eagle first sets off an atomic explosion by pressing a red button, then promises to “keep everyone safe” and reveals a large red, white and blue shield as a symbol of protection.
Soon, the shield turned into a bird cage, and the eagle said, “Relax, sometimes safety requires a little control.”

Why did China post the video now?
This video was posted days after the Shield of the Americas Summit was held in Florida on March 7, 2026. The conference brought together right-wing and center-right leaders from 12 Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, and Trinidad and Tobago.
President Trump used the event to propose “hard power” against security threats. President Trump told Latin American leaders: “We’re working with you to do whatever we need to do. We’re going to use missiles. Do you want us to use missiles? Missiles are very accurate.”
“‘Piu,’ head into the living room,” he said, imitating the sound of a missile in flight. “This is the end of the cartel person. But we will do whatever you need.”
Tensions over China’s regional presence
President Trump has repeatedly warned of China’s expanding influence across Latin America.
In his 2025 inaugural address, he claimed China was running the Panama Canal, a statement widely disputed by analysts.
At the time, a Hong Kong-based company controlled the main port terminal near the canal. Last month, Panama’s Supreme Court ruled the deal was illegal, prompting criticism from the Chinese government.
Chinese officials called the decision “shameful and pathetic” and blamed U.S. political pressure.
