Artificial Intelligence: Cybersecurity to Create 1 Million Jobs by 2030: Quest IT Staffing Report

Emerging technologies, including AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing and data science, are projected to generate around 1 million jobs by 2030, news agency PTI reported, citing a report from technical staff solutions provider Quess IT Staffing.

Apart from employment, these emerging technologies are expected to contribute more than $150 billion to the Indian economy by 2030, the report, “Technology Skills Report,” claims December 2024.

“The Indian technology workforce is witnessing transformative changes,” said Kapiljoshi, CEO of Ques IT Staffing. “The synergy of traditional skills like ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) with groundbreaking technologies such as AI and ML offers unparalleled opportunities.”

As a result, India's total IT workforce is projected to grow from 7.5 million to 7.5 million by 2030, from the current 5.4 million to 7.5 million, with over 2 million jobs being added.

Like cybersecurity technologies in particular, blockchain is important for the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector for secure transactions, fraud detection, and identity management.

Global blockchain employment demand rose 76% year-on-year in 2023, while India rose 60% between 2021 and 2023.

Meanwhile, AI and Machine Learning (ML) have applications such as personalized customer interaction and advanced analytics for risk management. Healthcare is useful for predictive analytics, personalized medicine and telehealth.

Data science is also important for healthcare when it comes to drug discovery and patient data analysis.

The retail and e-commerce sectors can use these technologies for personalized recommendations, inventory management and dynamic pricing.

Cloud computing employment increased 30-35% year-on-year in 2023 alone due to demand from sectors such as IT services, consulting, media, communications (TMT), and AUTO.

In terms of geographical trends, Bengaluru continues to dominate the technology employment environment, accounting for 43.5% of demand, with 13.4% and Pune at 10%.
