Nicolas Cage is “afraid” of being “replaced” by artificial intelligence.
The “Dream Scenario” actor underwent a digital scan for his upcoming role in MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video's live-action series “Spider-Man Noir,” but is wary of what the process means for his Hollywood future.
He explained why he had to end his interview with The New Yorker: “I have to sneak out after this to get scanned for the show, and then I get scanned for the movie I'm in after the show. So I'm getting scanned twice in one day!”
When asked what that meant, he added: “Well, they have to put me into a computer and change my eye colour to match. I don't really know.”
“They're going to steal my body and do whatever they want with a digital AI. I hope, God, it's not an AI. I'm scared of that. I've been very vocal about it.”
The 60-year-old star admits it's a “frightening” prospect and worries about his likeness being used after he's dead.
He added: [scary]And it makes you wonder where the artist's truth lies.
“Will it be replaced? Will it transform? Where is the heartbeat?”
“So what are you going to do to my body and face when I die? I don't want anything done to me!”
Nicholas suggested that while she “used to be in control” of how she was portrayed, she feels that becoming a meme has changed that.
He said: “I don't feel like I have any control over that anymore, and that's part of why I responded to the script for 'Dream Scenario'.”
“So my meme-ification is not dissimilar to Paul's dream-ification. I started at a very young age and I just wanted to make a big noise and create a kind of punk rock aura around me.”
“I never, and this is a horrible word, wanted to be part of the Brat Pack. I mean, they weren't part of it either. I thought it was so unfair.”
“But I'm not the same person I was when I was 15. I'm 60 now. And yet some of the roles I've been drawn to have either created this mythology or complicated it.”
