IISc Launches Short Course on Embedded Machine Learning

BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will be organising a three-day course on embedded machine learning (ML) from July 29-31 at the institute campus in the city.

This course covers one of the fastest growing areas at the intersection of AI and embedded systems, with a focus on designing efficient ML systems optimized for resource-constrained computing devices such as Internet of Things (IoT) devices and low-power microcontrollers.

Aimed at students, academicians, researchers and industry professionals, this course will be conducted by the Centre for Continuing Education at IISc and students of BE, BTech, MCA, MSc (Computer Science, IT or Electronics) can apply for this course.

This three-day course covers an introduction to IoT, the fundamentals of ML and deep learning, ML model compression and optimization, and ML model deployment and applications.

The course will be delivered through face-to-face lectures and laboratory sessions scheduled between 9:30am and 5:30pm.

Pandarasamy Arjunan, assistant professor at the Robert Bosch Center for Cyber-Physical Systems, will serve as faculty coordinator.

IISc said that the course will be beneficial for students, researchers and industry professionals aspiring to a career in the embedded ML field.

The institute has announced two fee structures, one for students and academics (Rs 20,000 plus 18% GST) and the other for industry and R&D aspirants (Rs 30,000 plus 18% GST).
