Generative AI-based tools have proven to be capable of handling virtually anything. Recently, the AI-powered video space has been constantly growing and adding new options. Now, Google is jumping on the bandwagon with the launch of Google Vids, which members of the Workspace Labs program can test out right now. However, the tool is focused on work and business environments.
Google Vids is an AI-powered video creation tool. According to the company, Vids' goal is to “tell stories in the workplace.” In essence, it works like any other video generator. However, because it's focused on the business environment, it has some extra features that intervene in the creation of your video.
Workspace Labs enabled users can now test Google Vids
With this tool, you can, for example, create a video that shows the achievement of company goals. You can also generate videos that show employee training processes for different positions. Media files can also explain the daily life of different departments of your company. In any case, you will end up with a professional style presentation.

Users who have signed up for Workspace Labs can now test Google Vids and generate their first video. Like other similar tools, it all starts with a prompt. According to Google, the prompt should describe your “idea, including your goal, audience, and length.” Once your prompt is ready, it will create a basic storyboard to work from. From there, you can tweak it depending on the output you're looking for. You can even include documents and files directly from your Google Drive account.
You can also add your own voice to the video.
At this stage, you can also add specific points about what you are looking for. You can also choose a specific style for your video. Once you complete this stage, you will be taken to the Video UI edition with timeline, where you can explore all the multimedia content that you can add to the video timeline. You can also add your own audio or the default audio.
Vids is workplace-focused, so it's not as creative as Sora or Kling. In fact, the final output consists of stock videos, images, and music. However, the results are very suitable for professional presentations. Finally, if you haven't signed up for Workspace Labs, you can test Google Vids in the coming weeks. The tool will be part of the Gemini for Workspace suite.
