AI application for tourists will be launched next Monday – Greek Portal

Applications of AI

“Greece is at a good level in terms of integrating AI into public administration,” Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou said on Tuesday at the annual “Shaping the Future of AI” conference, organised by Digital World Summit Greece at the Greek National Research Foundation under the auspices of the UN, the Ministry of Digital Governance and the City of Athens.

The minister announced that he and the Ministry of Tourism will launch next Monday an AI application for tourists, a digital assistant that will inform them of any information they may need in Greece.

Papastelguiu acknowledged that while artificial intelligence may eliminate certain jobs, it will also create more, and stressed the need for retraining and upskilling. “Technology requires social considerations. We should not move forward too quickly without looking back.”

Regarding new challenges, the minister said: “We need to create our own model, build our own technology, our own infrastructure such as Daedalus and green-signed data centers, but we also need to change university education programs.”
