BCom 2nd year exams clash with CA-CS exams, causing anxiety among students.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Second-year students of Bachelor of Commerce courses in colleges under Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya are at a crossroads as their exams clash with those of Chartered Accountant (CA) and Company Secretary (CS). The confused students have submitted an application to the DAVV requesting a change in the schedule of the Bachelor of Commerce exams.

As of now, no decision has been made by the university. The university announced the schedule for the BCom 2nd year exams around 10 days ago. The exams will be held between May 27 and June 24. According to students, the BCom 2nd year costing exam will be held on June 7 between 7 am and 10 am.

On the same day, the CA-CS Corporate and Management Accounting exams will be held from 9 am to 12 noon. Similarly, B Com exams in various vocational subjects are scheduled for June 20 and CA-CS Foundation-1 (Accounting) exams are also scheduled on the same day. Students have alleged that the timings of the BCom and CA-CS exams are such that it is not possible for them to appear for both the exams.

In their petition, the students have requested the university to make necessary changes in the schedule of the Bachelor of Commerce exams and allow them to appear for both the exams. Vice-Chancellor (Examinations) Dr Vishnu Mishra said the university had received the petition from the students. “We will discuss the matter with Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Jain and inform the students of her decision,” he added.
