The world hasn't been the same since OpenAI introduced its generated AI chatbot ChatGPT. Not only have AI tools become a part of the lives of millions of people around the world, but they have also started an AI race of sorts. After ChatGPT launched, companies like Google, Microsoft, X, and even Meta rolled out their own AI chatbots. Google has Gemini, Microsoft has Copilot, X has GrokAI, and Meta has the recently announced Meta AI. However, Apple has been absent from the scene until now. And that may soon change, according to CEO Tim Cook's recent comments.
Tim Cook talks about Apple's AI plans
During the company's first quarter earnings call, Apple's CEO dropped a hint about upcoming AI announcements. According to a report from CRN, Cook noted how his company has an advantage in the generative AI space and is excited to share announcements with customers soon.
“We remain very bullish on the generative AI opportunity, have made significant investments, and look forward to sharing something very exciting with our customers in the near future,” he said. According to the publication, the Cupertino-based company added: The tech giant has “differentiating advantages in this new era, including Apple's unique combination of seamless hardware, software and services integration.”
When Cook previously spoke about generative AI
This isn't the first time Cook has talked about Apple's plans for generative AI. In February, Cook reportedly said on a conference call with his shareholders that Apple would reveal more details about its AI plans later this year. Not only that, he also talked about his Mac and said that there is no better computer in the AI market.
In an announcement at Apple's annual shareholder meeting, Cook revealed the company's plans to delve deeper into the realm of generative artificial intelligence (AI) later this year, Reuters reported. The Apple CEO spoke about Apple's belief in the transformative potential of generative AI, noting that significant investments are being made in this area to unlock opportunities related to productivity and problem-solving.
Meanwhile, Apple is gearing up for two events in the near future: Let Loose on May 7th and WWDC in June. Both events will feature the latest Apple products on display, and there will be some exciting announcements for customers in-store. And Apple may also make his AI-related announcements.
