Photoshop 24 is the first version of the app to include all AI tools since beta, and we hope you'll take advantage of it. Photoshop removes all the time-consuming tasks involved in image editing, such as enlarging, adding, deleting, and selecting, so you can spend more time achieving your end goal. This tutorial provides a brief introduction to the major AI tools and shows you how to get the most out of them.
From generative expansion to generative fill, subject selection, and lens blur filters, there's plenty here to enhance your workflow. For more of our thoughts, check out our Photoshop review and our wide range of Photoshop tutorials.
generative extension
In the age of social media, with so many different crops and sizes, the need for a “one size fits all” approach is greater than ever. The old techniques of manually extending crops and duplicating new details are no longer viable in the fast-paced business world. This is where Generative Expand comes into its own, filling in the gaps instantly.
01. Select the crop tool

Open the image in Photoshop.Select the Crop tool in the toolbar (or press C) and select the Crop tool from the taskbar drop-down box.[生成拡張]Switch to If you have the context bar open, the same options will pop up on the canvas.
02. Specify crop rate

Select the type of crop ratio you want from the list of samples or create your own new crop preset.
03. Enlarge the image

Drag the crop handles to fill the new desired size. Holding down the alt button will drag both sides equally. When you are satisfied with your new crop, press Enter.
04. Select the final image

Generative Expand presents three options each time you press the button. Cycle through these and choose the one that best suits your image. Some results may be unsatisfactory, so be sure to evaluate them and improve your engine.
generative fill
For years, Photoshop fans have relied on Content Aware Fill to remove objects from scenes, with very limited success. Generative Fill brings you the ability to both add and remove content with amazing precision (and works especially well when deleting) at the touch of a button. Quickly transform your scene into a completely different style with minimal effort.

[ウィンドウ]>[コンテキスト タスク バー]Turn on the context bar. It will automatically pop up below the selected object, but you can use additional options to drag it around the canvas and pin it in place (although this will reset each time you open a new document). Masu).
02. Select area

(Image: © Image Generated with Abobe Firefly)
Select the area you want to influence using your favorite tool, such as a lasso, pen, or marquee. The generation tool is very forgiving, so for ease of use I used the Lasso tool to quickly draw the rough areas. If you don't draw the area, the entire image will be affected.
03. Enter the prompt

(Image: © Image Generated with Abobe Firefly)
Enter instructions or a description of the scene you want to create in the context text bar, and[生成]Click. Photoshop uses Firefly to create a suitable image to fill that space and fit into the existing background.
If you leave the text bar empty, Photoshop intuitively removes the selected object and fills the background like content-aware fill did in previous iterations, but with more success. You can also use the Delete tool in the toolbar for this. Simply select the tool and draw a rough outline around the object to remove it.
04. Select results

Each time you click Generate, three new results are generated that vary in quality and applicability. Cycle through the results and choose the one that fits your image. If none of these work, you can use additional instructions and prompts to adjust the process. Please rate the results.
Please select a subject
This tool is not AI in the same sense as the generation option (it works offline, unlike other tools), but it has a similar effect on your workflow. It's especially useful for cutting out people and creating headshots. It doesn't always produce the same sharp lines as with the Pen tool, and can sometimes have problems with very busy backgrounds, but it's more than adequate for most quick fixes. .
01. Open image

When you open an image in Photoshop, a contextual taskbar pops up. This tool is most effective against obvious target objects such as people or cars. While you may have struggled with hair frizz with the Select and Mask tool, this new Subject Selection handles it beautifully.
02. Select subject

Contextual taskbar[件名の選択]Press the button. This will automatically select your subject.[変更]You can use the buttons to adjust the selection, including feathering and expanding.
Use the selection to mask out the background or duplicate the selection to a new layer. or,[件名を選択]Instead of[背景を削除]You can get the same result by pressing .
03. Clean up images

The selection isn't always perfect and can end up with jagged edges, so if you want to use this image in high resolution, it might be beneficial to go up close and clean up the image. Finally, save the image as a psd or another file type with transparency.
lens blur filter
The Lens Blur filter is still in early access, but it's a nifty effect that's often overlooked in newer additions. With this tool, you no longer need a professional-grade camera lens to create dramatic shots with shallow depth of focus.
01. Apply filters

(Image: © Image Generated with Abobe Firefly)
[フィルター]>[カメラ RAW フィルター]Access filters from .[レンズぼかし]A window with options and controls next to the image will appear. Check the box labeled “Apply” to start the process.
02. Adjust the blur

Controls let you change the amount of blur and change the type of bokeh (aperture shape).
03. Focal length

The focal range provides a detailed depth map that corresponds to color temperature. You can target different parts of the image to change the focus point, or manually brush away parts of a sharp image.
