The second phase of the six-day Expert Advisory Committee (EAC) meeting aimed at creating a trilingual (English, Hindi and Punjabi) glossary on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) concluded at Punjab University (PU) on Saturday.
During six days of deliberations, Expert Advisory Board members and invited experts finalized a number of English, Hindi, and Punjabi terminology related to AI and ML. Each term was examined for conceptual accuracy, linguistic suitability, and technical accuracy. This glossary consists of approximately 4,500 terms and is expected to be an important resource for teaching, research, translation, and multilingual technology education.
The conference was organized by the Committee for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT) of the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Department of Punjabi Studies, PU, and was held from July 20 to 25, 2026. This was a continuation of the first stage of deliberations, which took place from 5 to 9 May 2026.
On behalf of CSTT, Deputy Director General Deepak Kumar reiterated the Commission’s commitment to the development and standardization of scientific and technical terminology in Indian languages.
Savita, head of research and development and an expert member of the committee, said the deliberations highlighted the importance of close collaboration between language experts and AI experts. Uma Sethi, senior faculty member in the Department of Punjabi Studies, said the glossary will strengthen technical education, translation and research in Punjabi, while promoting broader use of the language in emerging technology fields.
