A vote on a controversial AI data center in Loxahatchee called “Project Tango” will be held Wednesday.

This comes after a Palm Beach County judge denied an emergency request to block county commissioners from considering plans for an AI data center.

County commissioners met at the Government Center Wednesday morning to hear from residents before voting on Project Tango.

The developers have updated their plans ahead of today’s vote. Data center buildings and cooling equipment were relocated far from nearby homes and elementary schools.

They also say the project will create approximately 600 permanent jobs, have minimal impact on water usage, reduce noise, and provide an estimated $561 million in annual economic benefits.

Opponents say the project is too large and too close to homes and schools.

If you plan to attend Wednesday’s meeting, county officials recommend arriving early as large crowds are expected. If the commission chamber reaches capacity, you may be directed to an overflow area.

You can also watch the meeting and speak during public comment from the Vista Center on N. Jog Road.

Officials say there will be an equal opportunity to be heard at either location.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Government Center, 301 N. Olive Ave. in West Palm Beach.
