Spotify adds its own AI chatbot, what it can do [Video]

AI Video & Visuals

Spotify is rolling out yet another new AI feature, this time giving listeners the ability to converse with the music streaming app like an AI chatbot, giving it commands and prompts and asking questions about the media.

“Talk to Spotify” announced today essentially places a Gemini/ChatGPT-like chatbot inside the Spotify homepage. Users can tap this field to type or speak prompts to create a playlist, save a song, add a track to a queue, or request more information about the song they’re listening to.

Spotify provides some examples of how this can be useful with impromptu ideas such as:

  • “Play an artist you’ve never heard before.”
  • “Add Bad Bunny” – Add “Just his latest stuff” or “Make it more upbeat.”
  • “When was this album released?”
  • “What is the inspiration behind Dua Lipa’s radical optimism?”
  • “What other books has this author written?”
  • “What other podcasts has this guest been on?”
  • “When was the first time you heard this song?”
  • “What genre have you been into recently?”

Other prompts include “Add this to queue,” “Follow this artist,” and “Save this song.”

“Talk to Spotify” will be available, or at least will be, from both the home page and the “Now Playing” UI. Spotify says it’s being rolled out “gradually” in beta (in English only) to premium subscribers in the US, Ireland, and Sweden.

What do you think about the addition?
