The company reports an up to 60% reduction in edit prep time for long-form video production workflows.
Los Angeles, CA, June 30, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Cutback, a video editing software company and developer of the Premiere Assistant plugin, today announced the launch of Selects, an artificial intelligence tool designed to automate pre-editing tasks in professional video production. The tool is built to handle multicam footage synchronization, transcription, content organization, and rough cut assembly before opening the project in standard editing software.
Selects performs transcription with word-level accuracy, identifies speakers from a single audio file, and detects topics and visual scenes across video projects. The software identifies and selects between repeated takes of the same content to create an organized rough cut for use in Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
According to Cutback, internal testing and customer feedback show that incorporating Selects into your production workflow reduces edit prep time by up to 60% per project. The company says most of the time savings occur during the pre-editing stage of production, before creative editing decisions are made.
This product is designed for use by editors and production teams working on podcasts, interview programs, documentary projects, and other video formats that include large amounts of raw footage for a finished runtime.
As part of its public launch, Cutback has made Selects available for evaluation purposes to professional editors working in television and online video production, including content produced by Beast Games and George Janko. Cutback said editors involved in the evaluation reported that the software’s speaker recognition and video composition performed in line with professional production requirements.
Selects integrates with Cutback’s existing Premiere Assistant product. This is an artificial intelligence plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro that performs in-editor functions such as generating captions and removing filler words.
Selects is offered on a subscription basis, with introductory pricing starting at $16 per month when billed annually. A 7-day trial period is available for new users.
Cutback was founded to develop artificial intelligence tools for professional video editing workflows. The company’s products are used in podcast, documentary, and online video production.
