This week we looked at typical and ongoing fluctuations in Google search rankings. The UK’s CMA has ordered Google to share its search ranking algorithms and enable data portability to some third parties. Google Search has rolled out an AI-mode information agent to subscribers. Bing Webmaster Tools has released an update to its AI Performance Report that includes intents, topics, citation shares, and comparison features. Bing Webmaster Tools will also release updates to the country filters for these performance reports. Google Search Console’s link report has finally been updated. Google has updated its documentation on the list of domain variants in the Site Transfer and Change of Address tool. Google said the LLMS.txt file is neither useful nor harmful in Google searches. Google has stated that HTML, not markdown files, is the standard for SEO. Google said there is no real difference in using the subfolder structure for US sites. Google Search Central Live was held in Milan this week and covered many important SEO topics. Google is testing attribution of 3D models in product results. Google Image Search is mixing ads within organic ads, and some people are finally starting to notice. Bing is testing a new updated news box design in search. Google Ads has made changes to bid goal optimization, rolled out a promotional mode beta, and expanded its Smart Bidding research. Google Ads also limits ad impressions from ineligible advertisers. Google Ads has enabled conversion-based customer lists. Microsoft Advertising also has a new Product Explorer feature. That was the search news at this week’s Search Engine Roundtable.
