YouTube will now be able to use AI to build custom feeds of videos, in a move similar to competitors like Reddit, Bluesky, and others. tweet deck X.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Google described personalized feeds in a blog post as “a new way to shape the discovery experience.” Essentially, YouTube users can now use Google’s Gemini to prompt and generate an array of their own videos across a variety of topics.
YouTube will be testing an AI-powered custom feed tool starting in November 2025. The company says the feature will roll out in the US for mobile or desktop users.

AI content is automatically labeled on YouTube, but not on YouTube Kids
To create a custom feed, users can click[カスタム フィード]Tap the button. Then, use your mood, topic, and interests to prompt YouTube just like an AI-powered chatbot. YouTube said it would also suggest prompts, citing examples such as “A guided meditation of 10 minutes or less to help you relax after work” and “Give yourself something different from your regular feed.”
Once you press Enter, Gemini will generate a content feed that you can pin to your YouTube homepage and will continually update with new videos. If you don’t like the feel of what you’re seeing, you can adjust your feed by editing all prompts.
Notably, Wednesday’s announcement came on the same day YouTube announced it would upgrade its AI labeling system to appear more prominently at the top. However, YouTube Kids won’t immediately receive the same label. As Mashable’s Chase DiBenedetto reported, YouTube told Mashable in April that it was currently working on it. “The company also explained that its current labeling approach does not apply to YouTube Kids due to other safety policies, including a lack of description regarding kids content,” she wrote. “For now, the new labels only apply to the main YouTube website and not to content on YouTube Kids.”
