TIANJIN, May 29 (APP): The 2026 World Intelligence Expo opened in Tianjin in northern China, attracting more than 700 exhibitors to showcase cutting-edge technologies, products and applications in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
The theme of the four-day event, co-sponsored by the Tianjin and Chongqing municipal governments, is “Intelligence: Extensive Development Space, the Driver of Sustainable Growth.” It features seven exhibition zones covering a total area of 130,000 square meters covering embodied AI, core AI technologies, low-altitude economics, and commercial space exploration.
The expo attracted leading companies such as Fortune Global 500 companies and domestic top AI companies. Industry participants noted that the integration of AI is accelerating, increasing efficiency in traditional areas and creating new business models.
Ke Ji, new vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, emphasized the ministry’s efforts to promote this.
Developing high-quality AI industry, promoting the “AI + Manufacturing” concept, improving innovation ability, and improving the industrial environment.
Liu Liehong, head of the National Data Agency, emphasized the importance of high-quality datasets as both a technology resource and an innovation engine for intelligent upgrades in advanced manufacturing. “We support industry leaders and pilot companies building high-quality datasets in key sectors such as automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, rail transportation, non-ferrous metals, and petrochemicals,” Liu added.
As many countries seek to strengthen their industries through AI, China is actively promoting international cooperation. “We are making AI a priority for bilateral and multilateral technology cooperation, deepening international cooperation, and strengthening both technological innovation and capacity building,” said Chen Jiachang, Vice Minister of Science and Technology.

Despite global competition in AI, Wang Gan, chairman of the China Science and Technology Association, emphasized that win-win cooperation remains the prevailing goal. China is sharing its experience in AI applications in smart cities, manufacturing, and agriculture with developing countries, providing comprehensive products and services to address common challenges.
Kazakhstan, one of this year’s guest countries, also actively participated. Zuldis Selik, senior manager of Astana Hub, Kazakhstan’s innovation cluster for IT startups, engaged in discussions with Chinese high-tech companies. “I am impressed by China’s rapid progress, especially in electric vehicles and AI. Chinese companies are very capable and technology here is evolving at an extraordinary pace.
