our verdict
error. Although the video contains actual clips of Mr Kyle, Mr Starmer’s responses were generated by AI.
A video shared on Facebook appears to be AI-generated, showing Sir Keir Starmer reacting to recent criticism of the government by TalkTV presenter Jeremy Kyle.
In the clip, Mr Starmer appears to say: “The facts and figures quoted by Jeremy Kyle in this video are a big exception”, before real footage from a recent Talk TV broadcast featuring Mr Kyle appears. Mr Starmer has since appeared to make critical comments about his own government and its performance.
Mr Starmer’s footage appears to be based on a genuine video released by Downing Street in September last year, in which he made comments about recognizing a Palestinian state.
In this actual video, Starmer does not make any of the comments contained in the video shared on Facebook.

In the shared video, Mr Starmer’s lips have been edited to appear as if he is speaking the words in the audio, but at times his mouth appears blurry, a clear sign that the video is poorly lip-synced.
The video may have been made as satire, and while some commenters recognize it to be AI, others seem to have taken it at face value. The video’s caption reads, “My concern is that he doesn’t understand that.”
