Kaggle top 1.3% recognized for mathematical modeling and machine learning skills
Tokyo, May 22, 2026–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Tokyo: 6503) today announced that Tadakiyo Seki, an engineer at the company’s Japan Engineering Development Center, has been awarded the title of Kaggle Competition Master by Kaggle, Inc., a subsidiary of Google LLC and the world’s largest AI competition platform.
Titles are awarded based on the total number of medals accumulated by competitors. The Kaggle Medal recognizes competitors who use outstanding skills in mathematical modeling or machine learning to develop effective solutions to challenges posed by businesses, research institutes, and other organizations. Seki has won one gold medal and two silver medals, placing him in the top 1.3% of all Kaggle participants.
Mr. Seki has been participating in Kaggle competitions since 2024, leveraging his expertise in physical modeling and machine learning techniques honed through daily research and development. He placed 10th out of 1,727 teams and won the gold medal in March’s Machine Learning Mania 2025 competition, which involved statistical prediction of basketball game outcomes. Additionally, in the “PhysioNet – ECG Image Digitization” competition, which requires highly accurate extraction of waveform data from electrocardiogram images, we placed 63rd out of 1,424 teams and won a silver medal. Seki recently won a silver medal in the Stanford RNA 3D Folding Part 2 Competition, which focuses on predicting the three-dimensional structure of ribonucleic acid (RNA) from base sequence information, placing 44th out of 1,867 participants.
