Dataiku has launched Cobuild on Snowflake for joint customers running AI workflows on Snowflake.
The product links Snowflake Cortex AI with Dataiku’s orchestration software, allowing users to transform natural language prompts into visual AI workflows, agents, and applications within the Snowflake environment. This is designed to give customers more control over how these workflows are reviewed, validated, and approved before deployment.
The companies are targeting large organizations that want to make broader use of AI tools without relying entirely on coding assistants to generate software. The company already has more than 350 joint customers worldwide.
The announcement comes as companies seek to balance the speed promised by generative AI tools with more stringent demands around compliance, auditability, and cost control. In many corporate environments, leaders have been wary of systems that generate code and processes that are difficult to inspect by non-specialist risk teams and IT departments.
Cobuild on Snowflake turns business goals into visual workflows rather than blocks of generated code. Workflows can cover data preparation, machine learning tasks, AI agents, and business applications, and teams can review and modify each step before release.
Governance focus
Dataiku is positioning the product as an alternative to consumer AI coding tools in regulated and high-stakes environments. They argue that organizations need a way for business users, data teams, and governance staff to work on the same project in a controlled environment.
Florian Douetteau, co-founder and CEO of Dataiku, said, “Consumer AI tools can instantly surface code, but enterprises cannot afford to unleash opaque, unverified workflows into environments where accuracy, compliance, safety, and cost control are critical.”
“Cobuild on Snowflake enables organizations to bring the speed of AI-assisted development to a managed process with visual workflows that teams can inspect, validate, and improve before going live,” he said.
According to Snowflake, the product is built on Cortex AI, a layer for accessing large language models of data held within the Snowflake platform. This allows customers to work with AI models closer to their business data, rather than moving workloads to another tool.
For Snowflake, this announcement adds another software partner to its efforts to enable a data cloud where customers can not only store and analyze data but also build AI systems. For Dataiku, adding prompt-based workflow creation tools for both technical and non-technical staff deepens our long-term technology integration with Snowflake.
“Snowflake Cortex AI deploys leading models directly into managed enterprise data, allowing organizations to build and run AI where the business context already exists,” said Baris Gultekin, vice president of AI at Snowflake.
“Dataiku’s Cobuild enables customers to accelerate how they translate business intent into visual, managed workflows that can be inspected, optimized, and operationalized at scale. This combination is critical as companies move AI into production and require reliable and accurate systems,” he said.
Existing partnership
This product builds on the existing partnership between the two companies. Dataiku says its software already works with Snowflake for warehouse data preparation, machine learning training through Snowpark Container Services, batch and real-time inference, support for the Iceberg catalog, and several Cortex services including Cortex Agents, Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, Cortex REST API, and Cortex AI Functions.
Many customers want their AI development tools to fit into their existing data assets rather than creating a separate environment. By keeping generation and workflow creation within a customer’s Snowflake setup through secure REST API integration, the companies seek to address concerns around data movement and monitoring.
The initial rollout is for joint customers who are already building with Dataiku on Snowflake, with broader access planned later for Snowflake customers who want to add Dataiku to their stack.
In plain language, users can ask the system to prepare data for analysis, improve models, and create AI agents for business processes. Cobuild generates complete Dataiku workflows, allowing teams to inspect and refine them before they reach production.
