Zapier announced major expansions to its enterprise governance capabilities. This provides IT and security teams with a unified policy layer that covers all aspects of how AI runs, including no-code workflows, AI agents, AI assistants connected to MCPs like Claude and ChatGPT, and applications built with SDKs.

According to a new Zapier report that surveyed 200 business executives, 93% say that AI initiatives within their organizations at least sometimes fail to reach production due to governance constraints. 94% agree that governance needs to move from static policies and approvals to a continuous operating system built into how AI is built and run.
“Building has become so easy and fast, and in most organizations, new ideas have already surpassed the guardrails around them,” said Wade Foster, co-founder and CEO of Zapier. “If buildings are everywhere, governance should be everywhere.”
Previously, governance was designed for a world where only a few people built things in a few controlled locations. That world is gone. Today’s announcement is designed to replace that.
New governance controls for any team and tool
Administrators, department leaders, and IT can set rules for specific teams, workflows, and agents.
- App access control: Decide which apps your team can access. Allow or block by workspace, team, or user, and apply across editors, agents, and MCPs.
- Action limits: Then control what can be done within each app. Original. Sales reps can read and update HubSpot contacts, but they can’t delete them.
- Managed app connections + domain restrictions: Manage how your team members connect to apps in your account. With company-owned connections, there’s no risk of data flowing through personal accounts or workflow interruptions when someone leaves your company.
- Bring your own model (BYOM): Know exactly where your company’s data and knowledge is processed. Route Zapier agents and knowledge processing through your own infrastructure starting with AWS Bedrock.
- Workspace (general availability end of Q2): Give each team their own environment with the apps, connectivity, policies, and guardrails they need.
- Log streaming and asset history: If something goes wrong, Zapier can see exactly what was operating and when, and what failed, streaming in real-time to Datadog, Splunk, or your existing SIEM, so your security team can investigate where it’s already working.
Governance that follows you
Zapier Agent is now generally available with Enterprise MCP support. Teams can use agents to connect to systems outside of the platform or within their workflows using the same controls that already manage the rest of Zapier.
