Color Mode: A revolutionary color grading experience built from the ground up for editors.
Once upon a time, video editing was defined by cuts. These days, if you’re an editor, you’re probably doing everything yourself from start to finish, including the most difficult part of your workflow: color. For a long time, proper color grading meant one of two things: leaving it to a professional colorist, or struggling with an application that completely removed you from the editing process and forced you to study unaffordable professional colorist tools that were never designed for you.
To solve that pain, today we’re releasing Color Mode (Beta) for Premiere. It’s a first-of-its-kind color grading experience built specifically for the way editors actually think and work. For the first time, professional color tools are everywhere, making color grading feel like a natural and intuitive extension of editing itself.
In color mode, the video is always front and center. Use controls that respond to your expectations and a system that grows with your ambitions. Whether you want to make a few simple adjustments or go deeper to suit your footage’s demands, Color Mode has you covered. Editors who have used color mode will experience a new sensation – in action. enjoy Color grading! This experience invites curiosity, experimentation, and play rather than requiring expertise before making creative decisions.
For the first time, editors have complete visibility into how color flows at every level within a project. Every decision will be made visible, every grade will be organized the way you planned, and the relationship between your work and footage will always be the way you intended.
Color Mode was built in direct collaboration with hundreds of working editors through an extensive private beta. A public beta begins today for all Premiere subscribers and will be generally available in late 2026. Try it now!
In addition to color modes, the new Premiere 26.2 includes a variety of improvements designed to speed up your workflow, including new Film Impact-powered effects and transitions, object masking with sharp and smooth edge modes, and a searchable sequence index panel for navigating complex timelines. We’ve also improved path tracking across drives and platforms to make relinking offline media faster and smarter. Learn more about the latest version of Premiere 26.2.
Firefly color improvements
Premiere isn’t the only one bringing color improvements to your video workflows. The Firefly video editor also now has simple color adjustment controls. Tweak exposure, contrast, saturation, and temperature directly within the editor using intuitive sliders and one-click appearance, so your generated and uploaded footage always looks its best before exporting.
Create and adjust mattes faster than ever in After Effects
After Effects, the industry-leading motion graphics software, dramatically speeds up rotoscoping and masking with all-new AI-powered Object Matte. Frame.io Drive keeps creative teams in sync
Modern video production is increasingly decentralized and more demanding than ever before. With more files, more contributors, more versions, and teams working across locations, the infrastructure that brings it all together becomes as important as the creative work itself.
Today we’re introducing Frame.io Drive, a new desktop application that lets you mount Frame.io projects directly on your computer and work with your media as if they were stored locally. No more waiting for downloads or syncs.
Frame.io Drive allows editors, designers, and motion designers to work from the same shared project whenever they need to, whether they’re using Premiere, Photoshop, or After Effects. Say goodbye to shipped drives, transfer links, or separate storage systems. Media is streamed in real time as needed, and local caching maintains fast performance even for the largest files. Your entire team works from one shared source of truth, and your content is stored securely within Frame.io and never shared with third parties.
Frame.io Drive and Mounted Storage will be rolled out in stages. Access for Enterprise customers begins today and will continue over the coming weeks. Accounts on all other Frame.io plans will follow shortly thereafter. Join the waitlist now. You will receive a notification when your account is ready.
