AI News

san francisco, April 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Golden Gate University (GGU) today announced the launch of GGU Digital, a new division based in San Francisco, the global center of AI innovation, dedicated to delivering high-quality, affordable degrees globally through AI-powered instruction and multilingual delivery.

GGU Digital represents a significant step forward in contributing to the university’s vision of providing quality higher education for all.

“Since our founding in 1901, Golden Gate University’s mission has been to foster economic mobility,” said President Brent White. “GGU Digital extends its mission globally.”

President White, a global higher education leader, was hired to advance this vision and with his recent addition to the Board of Trustees and leadership team, including Executive Vice President and Provost Edward Roekert, the University is further positioned to advance this vision.

“Our mission is to provide access to higher education to everyone, everywhere,” Roekert said. “GGU Digital provides affordable, personalized instruction in their native language to students anywhere in the world.”

GGU Digital was approved by the university’s Faculty Senate and Board of Governors. This builds on the success of GGU Worldwide, the university’s fast-growing global division, which already offers degree programs in multiple languages and serves students in more than 25 countries.

GGU’s approach is based on its position as an AI-advanced university. The San Francisco-based university has faculty members who are both researchers and founders of AI-driven companies. Throughout the program, students are expected to use AI tools, are trained to use them effectively, and are evaluated on how well they apply them in practice.

GGU Digital extends this foundation by:

  • Earn a degree supported by AI-powered instruction
  • Providing programs in multiple languages
  • Significantly reduce costs for students

Building on this foundation, GGU Digital leverages the university’s existing AI leadership, including programs such as the Global Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and the DBA in Emerging Technologies, which are the largest programs of their kind in the world. This research is supported by faculty research on how AI is reshaping industries such as finance, manufacturing, and healthcare, as well as university-wide efforts to integrate AI across academic curricula and administrative operations.

GGU’s new core curriculum will ensure that all students graduate proficient in AI with hands-on training in the tools they will be expected to use to produce high-quality, real-world work.

The university plans to launch the first GGU digital degree program in August 2026.

This announcement follows GGU’s recent launch of a new Department of Psychology focused on human systems in the age of AI.
