Professor J. Ranganathan, Honorary Consul of Myanmar, said artificial intelligence (AI) has immense potential to enhance human creativity.
Speaking at an international seminar on ‘Digital Dreamscape: Youth Navigating AI, Creativity and Virtual Expression’ jointly organized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) at the campus here, Ranganathan said AI is not just a technological tool but a powerful enabler to amplify creative expression.
“Artificial intelligence does not diminish creativity; on the contrary, it provides tremendous opportunities to enhance it. In today’s fast-paced digital environment, where information spreads instantaneously, students should approach innovation with awareness and responsibility. Adaptability, continuous learning, and interdisciplinarity “Young minds need to explore their creativity broadly rather than restricting it to narrow boundaries.” The digital world offers countless templates and algorithms, but authenticity remains a student’s greatest asset,” he said.
The seminar also featured presentations by prominent international speakers, including Philip Ross-Hull, director of international student services at the University of Central Missouri in the United States. Professor Rajagopal Gururajan, University of Southern Queensland, Australia. Associate Professor Raj Srinivasan, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. VIT vice-chairman Sankar Viswanathan was also present on the occasion.
