Stockholm, Sweden. Saab has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canadian artificial intelligence company Kohia to collaborate on artificial intelligence technology for Global Eye aircraft early warning and control aircraft, the company announced in a statement.

The agreement sets the framework for artificial intelligence efforts in support of Global Eye, which are tied to aviation opportunities in Canada while also intended to support current and future international operators, the statement said. Saab said the partnership could also contribute to its broader product portfolio.

The companies will explore areas such as data-driven mission support for a secure aerospace environment, maintenance tools, and information processing in on-premises integration, according to a statement. The company said initial pilot projects have already been identified to evaluate avenues for cooperation based on program needs.

Saab said the initiative aims to combine aerospace expertise with the development of artificial intelligence as part of Canadian industrial cooperation. The company added that the technology and capabilities developed under this agreement are expected to support both GlobalEye-related initiatives and other services across the company’s businesses.
