I use AI in my work every day, but content creation remains the most time-consuming part. My Instagram account took off when I posted videos of my kids using Stickerbox, but until recently I only posted occasionally.
NotebookLM changed all that for me. Before I started relying on Google’s AI, it would take me hours to come up with an idea, articulate it, and turn it into a finished post. Especially if you’re already juggling multiple stories, social posts, and deadlines.
But what I love about NotebookLM is that you can turn almost anything into a full video overview, and it actually speeds up your entire content workflow. This doesn’t replace creativity, but it helps take away the hardest part of content creation: getting started.
Here are five methods I use to create content faster.
1. Convert your rough ideas into instant video scripts
The biggest bottleneck for me is turning messy ideas into structured ones. Rather than staring at a blank page, I jot down bullet points, notes, and research. From there, NotebookLM turns it into a clean narrated video summary with a beginning, middle, and end.

It instantly gives you a framework, even if you don’t use it word for word. This is usually the most difficult part.
2. Use to condense long notes into short-form content
If you’re working on a long story or research-heavy topic, you’ll end up with pages of notes that you don’t want to go back to. This is where NotebookLM really shines. Upload everything and let it generate an overview video. This extracts the important points, organizes them logically, and explains them in a very easy to understand manner.
From there, it’s incredibly easy to turn it into short videos, quick posts, or even scripts for social. The Ray-Ban Meta Display Glasses also come with a teleprompter, so you can use that to read your script. Essentially, it compresses hours of thinking into minutes.
3. Turn your research into an explainer (without thinking too much)
You may know a lot about a topic, but explaining it simply is a completely different skill. It’s another thing to understand something with your own head. Especially if you want to be clear and concise so you don’t lose their attention, you also want to break it down so that it actually makes sense to them.
NotebookLM transforms your source material into video-style instructions, forcing your ideas into a natural, clean, logical flow. Remove extra context that isn’t really needed, simplify the language, and focus on what someone needs to understand first, second, and third.
Instead of over-explaining or getting hung up on details, bring out the core idea and build around it. What I realized is that NotebookLM doesn’t just summarize it, it turns it into something usable.
4. Repurpose old content into new stuff
One of the most beneficial things I’ve done is repurpose content I’ve already created. Repurpose old notes, drafts, and even articles like “We tested ‘Creative Intelligence’ with ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. This is the only one that actually feels human” and repurpose them into new overview videos.
Anything you upload to NotebookLM instantly becomes a video that you can use for social media, to present ideas in meetings, or simply to simplify ideas.
This is one of the easiest ways to get more value out of the work I’ve already done.
5. Use to break creative blocks
This may be the most underrated use. When I feel stuck, it’s rarely because I don’t have any ideas, it’s because I have too many. You might be overthinking angles, second-guessing construction, or trying to get it perfect before you even start. That’s usually where everything slows down.
Rather than force it, I drop everything I have into NotebookLM, even if it’s incomplete or has little meaning. A few bullet points, broad thoughts, or even ideas that aren’t fully fleshed out can become a fully formatted video.
Difference between video overview and AI-generated video
Getting started with NotebookLM is free. Just log in and start a new project. From there, you can upload from your notes to a link on your website, explore the new features of NotebookLM’s video overviews, and see your content ready for use in less than 5 minutes.
The video generated is not your typical 6-second AI video of a cat skateboarding. NotebookLM produces long, easy-to-use videos. Rather than providing a wall of text, structured, narrated instructions are built. You usually have to write, outline, and refine the script yourself. Introduce your topic, explain important points in a logical order, and conclude with a clear takeaway.
conclusion
To be clear, NotebookLM doesn’t replace content creation, it removes the slowest part.
What surprised me was not just how fast it worked, but how useful the output felt. My workflow has changed a lot. It has given me new ways to communicate my ideas and new forms of content available online.
Of course, it’s not perfect. Your visuals may feel generic, but you still need to layer your voice. But it often not only improves the speed at which you explain things, it also improves the way you explain things. And right now, I feel that AI is the most helpful.
