New AI features and custom models expand Firefly video and image creation platform

Adobe announced significant enhancements to the Firefly platform introducing new AI capabilities, custom model training, and enhanced video and image creation tools aimed at streamlining creative workflows and enabling more personalized content generation.

This update positions Firefly as an all-in-one creative AI studio, integrating over 30 industry-leading models from companies like Adobe, Google, OpenAI, and Runway. The platform enables users to generate, refine, and edit creative output within a single environment, reducing friction between ideation and production.

A core feature of this release is the introduction of Firefly custom models, currently available in public beta. These models allow users to train AI on their own images to recreate specific artistic styles, characters, or photo aesthetics. By uploading their own assets, creators can build reusable models that maintain visual consistency across projects, including elements such as color palettes, lighting, and design details.

Adobe emphasized that these custom models are particularly useful for illustration style, text consistency, and reproducible photo appearance. Once trained, models can be reused across campaigns and creative workflows, allowing your team to scale content creation without losing your brand identity. The company also noted that these models are private by default, ensuring that user-generated content remains exclusive.

In addition to custom models, Firefly can now expand its creative flexibility through access to a wide range of AI models, optimized for a variety of use cases such as cinematic motion, photorealism, and stylized design. Users can generate content in one model, refine it in another, and continue editing using Adobe’s native tools within the same interface.

Adobe also introduced new editing features designed to accelerate production workflows. Features such as Quick Cuts allow users to quickly transform raw video footage into structured edits, and enhanced image editing tools allow you to manipulate objects, enhance scenes, and fine-tune the resulting visuals. These tools are fully integrated with the production process, allowing a seamless transition from concept to finished output.

Another important development is the move from prompt-based authoring to conversational AI workflows. Adobe is rolling out agent-based AI assistants across products such as Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat. These assistants allow users to describe their creative goals in natural language, and the system executes the task and enables iterative improvement through interaction.

As part of this evolution, Adobe is expanding access to Project Moonlight, a conversational AI interface currently in private beta. The system is designed to work across Adobe applications, helping users maintain creative control while moving more efficiently from initial concept to final output.

The company is positioning these updates as part of a broader transformation in the way creative work is produced, moving toward more interactive, AI-assisted workflows that combine generation, editing, and collaboration in a unified environment.
