Brady Tkachuk spoke out after the White House shared an AI-generated video of him making derogatory comments about Canada on TikTok.
At the recent Winter Olympics, Team USA’s men’s hockey team won the gold medal by defeating their Canadian rivals in the finals.
A very tense match ended 2-1 in America’s favor as Jack Hughes lost his front tooth midway through.
Team USA’s women’s team also proved their country’s victory, winning the gold medal. As a result, they were invited to the White House for a celebration, but they declined President Trump’s invitation after he joked that he was only inviting them to avoid facing impeachment.
Aside from the obvious drama between the women’s team and Trump, the White House also had ripples on the men’s team. One player in particular.
Following their success last week, the White House shared an AI clip of Brady Tkachuk to TikTok where he says: “They booed our national anthem so I had to come out and teach the maple syrup eaters.” [expletive] lesson. Canada, we own your little brother. ”
The video was captioned, “Silver doesn’t shine the same.”
People online were quick to react to the video, but they weren’t all that impressed.
One person wrote: “Keeping classy as always.” A second one read: “The White House is posting AI deepfakes???? Please Lord, pray for us.”
Tkachuk has now spoken out about the controversial video, pointing out that it is clearly artificial intelligence.
“Well, it’s obviously fake because it’s not my voice and it’s not my lip movements,” he said, according to BBC Sport.
“I don’t control those accounts,” Tkachuk added. “There’s nothing I can do because I know those words will never come out of my mouth.
“That’s not what I said. I would never say that. That’s not me. I think that’s why I don’t like that video.”

The next Winter Olympics will be held in the French Alps in 2030. This year’s Olympics consisted of eight major sports, including 16 different disciplines, two of which may be scrapped in four years.
The sports that will not return are snowboarding’s parallel giant slalom (PGS) and Nordic combined events.
Following the limited television audience that these particular events attracted in Milan-Cortina in 2026, consideration was given to their abolition.
