Veteran lyricist and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairman Prasoon Joshi provided insights into the evolving nature of artificial intelligence while reflecting on India’s future. Speaking at the AI Summit 2026 on Monday, Joshi praised the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnau and said, “AI is a great initiative. Everyone involved, especially the visionary Prime Minister Modi and Ashwini Vaishnau…I think the entire film industry and other industries are looking forward to the AI Summit because it is an unprecedented AI Summit.”
Referring to the impact of artificial intelligence in the creative industry, Joshi said, “We can already see the impact of AI in the creative industry. The first thing that is important is to accept it without denying it. There is a dystopian view that human creation is over… We ultimately decide what AI will be like for us. Therefore, men should not be discouraged from being in the driver’s seat… India has a great spirit, but we have been unkind to our people by calling our innovators ‘Jugaadu’...This is our way of communicating that we are serious and intend to go ahead with it. ”At the event, the CBFC Chairman explained how the world is unnecessarily reacting to the negative effects of AI. “Like any other business, the entertainment industry, primarily the Indian film industry, is very huge and provides employment to tens of thousands of people. People have to learn new skills to stay relevant with the times,” he told ANI. He emphasized that the government is making great efforts to bring India into the realm of AI and developed countries. The AI Impact Summit opened in New Delhi on Monday.The Impact Summit, the first international AI summit in the Global South, will be held from February 16 to 20, showcasing New Delhi’s ambition to shape an inclusive, responsible and impactful AI future. At its core is India’s bold vision for sovereign AI.
