Rabat – Tangier’s public prosecutor’s office has launched a judicial investigation into the circulation of a fake video on social media showing floods causing extensive damage in the city of Ksar el-Kebir.
Authorities said the video shared online was misleading and did not reflect the real situation on the ground. Initial findings indicate that these clips were created using artificial intelligence tools and were designed to spread misinformation and mislead public opinion.
Prosecutors said the investigation was part of a broader effort to combat fake news, especially in emergency situations where misinformation can cause panic and disrupt public order.
Officials emphasized the importance of relying on verified and official sources of information, especially during times of severe weather or natural disasters.

Temporary shelters, including tents with basic supplies and heating to cope with the drop in temperatures, are being prepared to accommodate families forced to leave their homes.
