Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi earlier today interacted with CEOs and experts working in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at his official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg.
Coinciding with the IndiaAI Impact Summit to be held in February, the exchange aimed to foster strategic cooperation, showcase AI innovation, and accelerate India’s AI mission goals. During the conversation, the CEOs expressed strong support for the goal of becoming self-reliant with AI technology. They also acknowledged the efforts and resources the government is putting in to make India a leader in AI on the world stage.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to embrace new technology in all sectors and utilize it to contribute to the country’s growth. He also called for leveraging indigenous technologies across key sectors.
Speaking about the upcoming AI Impact Summit, the Prime Minister emphasized that all individuals and businesses should use the summit to explore new opportunities and get back on track for growth. He also said that through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India has demonstrated its technological prowess and the same can be replicated in the field of AI.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India has a unique proposition of scale, diversity and democracy, which is why the world trusts India’s digital infrastructure. The Prime Minister said that in line with the vision of ‘AI for All’, we need to not only inspire the world but also create an impact with technology. He also called on CEOs and experts to make India a fertile destination for all global AI initiatives.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of data security and the democratization of technology. He said we should work towards an AI ecosystem that is transparent, fair and secure. He also noted the need to focus on AI skills acquisition and human resource development, while noting that there should be no compromise on the ethical use of AI. The Prime Minister urged that India’s AI ecosystem should reflect its national character and values.
The high-level roundtable included CEOs from companies working on AI such as Wipro, TCS, HCL Tech, Zoho Corporation, LTI Mindtree, Jio Platforms Ltd, AdaniConnex, Nxtra Data, and Netweb Technologies, as well as experts from IIIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, and IIT Bombay. Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnau and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Shri Jitin Prasada also participated in the interaction.
