The Philippines has finally announced that it will lift its ban on Grok’s AI (XAI) after restricting access due to explicit content and child safety concerns.
The Philippine Cybercrime Investigation Agency, CICC, announced on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, that it will restore access to Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, following the developer’s promise to remove image manipulation tools that previously raised child safety concerns.
“The Grok AI app has contacted us and stated that it will no longer use any content manipulation on its platform,” the Cybercrime Investigation Coordination Center said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“Even after lifting the ban, CICC will continue to closely monitor the app to ensure it complies with our country’s rules and regulations,” it added.
The Philippines blocked Grok last week over concerns about its ability to generate sexual images, including content that could threaten the safety of children.
The move to block comes as governments and regulators from Europe to Asia crack down on sexually explicit content produced by Grok on social media platform X, launching investigations, imposing bans and requiring safeguards.
Grok AI has previously faced global criticism for its explicit content and image editing app, with several countries investigating the issue and some others blocking it entirely.
