Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is in the midst of a controversy due to an apparently AI-generated video he shared on his Facebook account a few days ago.
The aforementioned video first depicts him hitting a six with overlaid text.Tumhe cricketer Kisne Banaya? (Who made you a cricketer?)”, followed by an AI-generated image of the Hindu gods Vishnu, Shiva and Ganesh wearing sunglasses and sitting in a car driven by Lord Hanuman, as if to suggest that it was God’s blessings that brought them success.
However, the video seems to have landed him in trouble with Rinku Singh and the Karni Sena, with Rinku Singh reportedly filing a complaint against the KKR player for ignoring religious sentiments.
Rinku Singh stirs controversy ahead of T20 World Cup
According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, Karni Sena district president Sumit Tomar said:Rinku Singh showed the spirit of ‘jihad’ just like Shah Rukh Khan.” further states.
“Rinku Singh is part of Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Like Shah Rukh, Rinku too has revealed his true spirit. It is a play of faith to make our God wear black glasses, ride a tar and be seen dancing to English songs.”
”Karni Sena will not tolerate this. Rinku Singh should join hands with Sanatan Dharma and apologize publicly. The government should immediately file an FIR against Rinku Singh. If no action is taken, the organization will take to the streets and launch mass agitation.” he added.
The complaint was filed at Aligarh’s Sasni Gate police station, which informed Dainik Bhaskar that the authenticity of the video would be investigated and legal action would be taken only after verification of the person posting it.
Rinku Singh is currently in Nagpur getting ready to represent India against New Zealand in the five-match T20I series, after which he will play in the ICC T20 World Cup.
