The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on Tuesday organized a day-long training program titled ‘Using Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace’ at the ICT and E-Learning Center of Bangladesh Open University Ghazipur Campus.
Professor Abul Hasnat Md Shamim, Treasurer of Bangladesh Open University, attended the training program held under the guidance of Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, as the chief guest and resource person.
In his inaugural address, Professor Shamim said that artificial intelligence is not a competition for humans. Rather, it is a powerful tool that increases efficiency, transparency, and productivity in the workplace.
The first session of the training was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Mohammad Zahir Raihan. In his speech, he said that artificial intelligence is a practical and effective technology that has already been applied in education and government, increasing the accuracy of decision-making, saving time and costs, and improving the capacity of human resources.
During the training session, Mr. Mominul Islam, Head of ICT Unit and ICT Consultant at Bangladesh Open University, appeared as a resource person.
He gave a comprehensive discussion on the fundamentals and practical applications of artificial intelligence in the workplace, including office automation, writing official letters, memos, and reports, exam-related data analysis and automation, ethics, data security and risk management, administrative decision-making and future planning.
The training program was conducted by Professor Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, Additional Director, IQAC. A total of 36 participants from different schools and faculties of Bangladesh Open University participated in the training.
