Government invests $200 million in AI to improve e-governance apps.

Applications of AI

According to E-Information Technology Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, India will spend $200 million to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem that will make e-government platforms more accessible.

The country will focus on using artificial intelligence for India Stack, Digital India Bhashini for language models, and healthcare governance apps. Chandrasekhar said he would encourage the private sector and start-ups to explore his AI application cases.

The India Stack consists of open source software application programming interfaces (APIs) for government-backed services such as Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and DigiLocker. The open source paradigm includes numerous computer languages, architectures, APIs, libraries or lexicons, user interfaces, and apps.

“It builds learning and intelligence into its stack and builds on all the massive amounts of data we have about consumer behavior and what citizens consume,” Chandrasekhar said, adding that AI is an assistive technology. He added that it reduces duplication and misuse of gold to practically zero. .

Governments establish safeguards for developing technologies such as AI. “The new Digital India Act, which replaces the IT Act of 2000, could share one of the key areas that would serve as a guardrail framework for ethical use without disrupting innovation.” A growing digital sector.

The government has been in dialogue with industry stakeholders as part of the IndiaAI project in preparation for the introduction of the dataset program. Large data sets stored by governments, when made available in curated and curated formats, will be game changers for the nation’s AI industry.

“One of the main concerns about AI is the fear of bias and the lack of diversity in the underlying datasets that drive these (AI language) models. One of the reasons is that we represent one of the most diverse collections of datasets from citizens across the country,” explains Chandrasekhar.
