AI Video & Visuals

of hindu factory murder Workers in Muslim-majority Bangladesh have further soured already strained relations with neighboring India, after a purported AI-generated video of a woman pleading for help has gone viral on social media. The video was shared by an account that regularly posts AI-generated content and includes visual discrepancies that indicate a synthetically generated clip.

“Another heartbreaking cry from a Bangladeshi Hindu sister brought tears to my eyes as a child of an ethnic minority family in India. I urge the Indian government to teach Bangladesh a hard lesson,” reads the Bengali caption of the Facebook reel shared on December 30, 2025.

The video, which has been viewed more than 74,000 times, has the words “Bangladeshi Hindu” superimposed on it.

It shows a tearful woman addressing her “Indian brothers” and saying, “I'm speaking from Bangladesh and a man has sent me a marriage proposal and said he'll give me everything, but I'm scared and confused.”

The same video was also shared in similar Facebook and Instagram posts.

One of the posts said, “Bangladesh needs to be taught a lesson,” while another said, “India needs to intervene in Bangladesh.”

The footage went viral (archive link) as Muslim-majority Bangladesh grapples with a mass killing that has further fueled tensions with its Hindu-majority neighbor India.

On December 18, 2025, Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu garment factory worker, was murdered in Mymensingh, north of the capital Dhaka, after being accused of blasphemy.

India's Hindu newspaper reported that demonstrators rallied outside Bangladeshi missions in several Indian cities, with demonstrators claiming that religious minorities were being attacked from across the border. (Archived link).

Violent protests also occurred within Bangladesh. Student leader Sharif Osman Hadi, a key figure in the 2024 democracy movement that ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was shot dead by a masked gunman in Dhaka.

Hadi had been a vocal critic of India, where Hasina remains in self-imposed exile.

However, the videos being circulated were created using AI tools.

Further analysis of the footage revealed multiple visual inconsistencies indicative of content. Generated by AI toolthe girl's teeth appear to disappear in and out as she moves her mouth.

AFP ran the clip through the DeepFake-o-meter tool developed by the University at Buffalo and found it had a 100% chance of being generated by AI (archive link).
