(Yicai), Dec. 29 — The Chinese billionaire founder of global investment firm Shanda Investment Group said he was founding an artificial intelligence company and developing a messaging application and pledged to “open source everything” and take full responsibility.
Tanka is backed by Shanda and aims to develop a communication platform that integrates long-term memory capabilities of AI, Chen Tianqiao, co-founder of Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute, announced on December 27th.
The core product is the Tanka messaging app, which leverages proprietary Memgraph technology to remember and learn from past conversations, providing real-time context-aware insights and proactive follow-up capabilities, Chen noted.
“I freely disclose the core processes of the AI-native company Tanka that I am directly building, including the underlying logic, operational blueprints, and critical discussions that will determine success or failure,” Chen said, adding, “I will take full responsibility for any potential failures.”
He said that in an era where AI functions as a “super tool,” human value lies in active choice and responsibility. Humans are creating an irreplaceable line of defense, he added, as AI is powerful in execution but unable to bear the ultimate consequences or engage in “irrational creation.”
“The essence of AI is calculation, but the essence of humans is strategy,” Chen pointed out. “Choice and responsibility are humanity's last line of defense.”
Only when humans make choices and take responsibility can AI computations truly transform from “data processing” to “commercial value,” Chen said, adding that this act of human responsibility is called “authorization.”
According to Chen, Elon Musk's success is “the rise of the hyperindividual.” “Musk does only two things: make very ambitious choices that point in a seemingly impossible direction, and take full responsibility by risking everything and bearing the cost of every failure. The definition of a hyper-individual.”
“The only competition humanity should engage in is who has the more stable fulcrum and who has the more precise movement,” Chen said.
