GDIT uses Google Cloud technology to deliver advanced AI, cloud, and cyber solutions to government agencies

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a division of General Dynamics, announced an expanded collaboration with Google Public Sector to accelerate innovation for the U.S. government. The partnership will focus on bringing secure artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud solutions to the tactical edge of defense and intelligence agencies and modernizing civil services for civilian agencies.

Through this collaboration, GDIT will combine decades of mission and integration expertise with Google Cloud’s AI, cloud, and cybersecurity services. GDIT has integrated its digital accelerator portfolio into Google Cloud to rapidly develop and deploy solutions that enable federal agencies to make faster decisions, improve security, reduce costs, and advance their missions.

The first focus area of the partnership is joint investment in the development of “Mission Edge AI” solutions. GDIT leverages Google Distributed Cloud to bring AI and computing to remote, disconnected environments where communications are unreliable, limited, or completely cut off. Google Distributed Cloud provides a portable and robust “cloud-in-box” that is cleared to operate securely at a classified level (US Department of the Army Impact Level 6), allowing users to run workloads even when offline. During the recent Exercise Mobility Guardian 2025, the US Air Force’s first military exercise in the Indo-Pacific region, GDIT successfully demonstrated this solution that integrates AI digital accelerators to support air mobility operations at the tactical edge.

The second focus area will enable federal agencies to leverage GDIT’s AI solutions and Google Cloud’s contact center AI platform to modernize citizen engagement services. The solution incorporates a variety of AI capabilities, including conversational, generative, and agentic AI, to drive efficiency and improve the citizen service experience across private and health organizations. For example, GDIT and Google Public Sector recently modernized a large service desk at a major federal agency that supports millions of users. The result was $12 million in savings and a 40% reduction in call volume.

“In this dynamic and complex environment, federal agencies need industry partners who can innovate faster than ever before, from the tactical end of the mission to the enterprise,” said Ben Gianni, senior vice president and chief technology officer at GDIT. “This expanded partnership will enable us to jointly invest, develop and rapidly deliver proven solutions to meet diverse demands and advance national security priorities.”

This expanded collaboration builds on GDIT’s existing partnership with Google Public Sector and is an important part of the company’s technology investment strategy, which focuses on deepening relationships with commercial technology companies to drive innovation in government agencies.

Jan Neimeic, Managing Director of National Security, Google Public Sector, said: “Google Public Sector’s mission is to bring the best of Google innovation to governments securely and at scale.” “This strategic partnership with GDIT is a force multiplier, combining our leadership in AI, cloud and cybersecurity with GDIT’s proven expertise in integrating and delivering complex solutions. From modernizing citizen services with generative AI to delivering critical communications at the mission edge, this partnership will accelerate government’s digital transformation.”
