Slack has announced that the platform will acquire a new real-time search API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that third-party can integrate with. This allows you to use valuable conversation data from AI. A huge amount of knowledge, information, and context is hidden in loose conversation. This is now available for AI.
Slack has been critically considered in recent years by many organizations and developers. This was a favorable platform for many developers, but was later acquired by Salesforce. The focus was then on integrating Slack into the Salesforce ecosystem.
So far, this has been partly successful, but with the rapid rise in AI and the speed at which the organization needs to adapt, Salesforce appears to have found the right route and strategy for Slack. The focus is no longer on full integration with Salesforce solutions. Salesforce considers Slack to all kinds of AI applications and agents.
Real-time search API and MCP server
The deployment of a real-time search API and an MCP server allows developers to read Slack conversation data. For example, a project channel that discusses what your app looks like and what features to include is very valuable. This is especially true when employees discuss how to approach this, what is compliant, and what is not. The knowledge and experience hidden in Slack messages is extremely valuable. The context of information can also be very useful to bring something into perspective.
The Real-Time Search API allows you to search conversation history within Slack and use the data for other applications. MCP allows AI agents to communicate with Slack databases to retrieve information.

Building applications on top of the Slack platform has become very easy. You don't need to be a veteran developer to build your app. Even the cosmos coding is wrapped in Slack and Salesforce. Using apps on the Slack platform is easy. It all fits with existing processes and UI. It also increases productivity by allowing you to approve or complete tasks and actions without leaving Slack.
Many organizations have already developed apps that will take Slack to the next level. Humanity has made Claude available within Slack, allowing employees to use Claude in relation to conversation history, web searches, and data connections. Return to the center of the organization
What the announcement reveals is that in any case, Slack will once again return to the organization's central stage. Anyone who thinks Slack would slowly disappear under the wings of Salesforce can breathe easily. However, most companies need to be patient for a while, as RTS APIs and Slack MCP servers are currently only available in closed betas. These features will not be available to anyone until early 2026.
