Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday dismissed criticism of the AI-generated video that President Donald Trump shares. Vance characterised the video as a “joking” and rejected accusations from Democrats.“I think it's funny. We're having a good time with the president's joke,” Vance said at a White House press conference when asked by reporters how the administration's claims and image of its administration's commitment to negotiate with Democratic leaders in good faith, as Reuters quoted.“You can negotiate in good faith while enjoying some of the absurdities of the Democratic position, and even enjoying the absurdities of the Democrats themselves,” he added. He emphasized that people fully knew that Jeffries actually didn't wear a sombrero and “black curly animated mustache” in the White House.“We're all trying to do a very important job for Americans,” he said. “The US President likes to do a bit of fun when he does it, and I think it's fine.”The video, posted Monday, claims Democrats are trying to provide free medical care to undocumented immigrants. It depicts Jeffries, a black Mexican, accompanied by Mariachi's music in the background.“Next time you have anything to say about me, don't be wary through racist, fake AI videos,” Jeffries said Tuesday at the Capitol, as reported by the New York Times. “When I return to my oval office, say that to my face.”Vance said there is only one way to put an end to the meme.“So, I'm going to tell Hakeem Jeffries now, if I help reopen the government, I'll make this strict promise that Sombrero's meme will stop,” he said. “And I told the President of the United States about it.”
