Meta dropped Vibe, a new AI-powered video feed that is essentially Tiktok but the robots make all their content. Timing isn't even more troublesome. Just a few weeks after the US and China signed a deal to keep the real Tiktok alive, Meta launched what felt like a solution to a problem that no longer exists.

Instead of humans creating short videos, Vibes allows you to scroll through AI-generated clips. You can remix it in a variety of music and visual styles. It's like Meta saw endless complaints about “AI slops” that flooded social media and thought, “What do you know? Let's create an entire platform from now on.”
here it is. Meta already owns an Instagram reel. It is built specifically to compete with Tiktok. The reels are made up of one-third of your Instagram usage time. Advertising alone will reach 726 million users. So why does Meta need a different video platform?

User responses are cruel. Comments on Mark Zuckerberg's announcement included gems such as “No one gang wants this” and “Post AI slops on their apps.” People are pretty tired of AI-generated content that messes up their feeds.
Releases are at a strategically strange time. A few months ago, businesses were rushing to build a Tiktok alternative as ban seemed inevitable. The urgency for Tiktok's alternatives has basically evaporated as Tiktok secured a contract to maintain operations with American investors who control the board.
Meta says that you can cross-post vibe content on Instagram and Facebook. This honestly makes everything feel even more verbose. If you want to compete with Tiktok, you might focus on improving your reels rather than fragmenting your video strategy on yet another platform.
