Meta has introduced a new short form video feed called Vibes. I currently live in the Meta AI app and in Meta.ai. Consider a Tiktok or Instagram reel, except that all the videos are generated by AI.

The development, announced by CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Instagram, is because Meta doubles its ecosystem-wide generation AI tools. Early demonstrations featured fuzzy creatures jumping on a cube, cats kneading fabrics, and even women from ancient Egypt casually filming selfies and angry Hello Man riding motorbikes.

According to Meta, Vibes is designed to help people “discover, create and share AI videos.” Users are:
- Generate video from scratch
- Remix existing videos by adding music, exchanging styles, and layering visuals
- Share directly to Vibes Feed, DM Friends, or Instagram or Facebook stories and reels to crosspost
According to Meta, the feed will personalize over time, bringing AI videos to surface both from creators and the community. Also, if you see Meta AI clips on Instagram, you can tap to remix them in the Meta AI app.
Why is it important?
On paper, the vibe is positioned as a creative playground. Meta continues to develop its own in partnership with Midjourney and Black Forest Labs for early AI models. We are also working with “talented visual artists and creators” to expand our tools for the future.
However, users' responses to Zuckerberg's announcement were not enthusiastic.
Top comments include “No one wants this,” or “Post AI Slops on their app,” or “When I say, I think I'll talk for everyone: What…?”
And it's not difficult to see why. When YouTube and others are cracking down on the “AI Slop” flood feed, Meta has deployed its own home for that. The move also opposes the company's recent message urging creators to focus on “real storytelling” rather than low-value content.
Meta emphasizes that AI apps are a central hub for managing AI glasses, capturing moments, and exploring creative possibilities. Meta AI Assistant is still built in and offers “answers, ideas, inspiration.”
Still, the big bet here is clear. Meta wants to own AI-Video lanes even if the audience doesn't want it exactly.
