A powerful AI strategy is the difference between flying and falling

Machine Learning

Artificial intelligence is a new flight route for businesses. However, as people like Icarus, who soar without restraint risk falls, durable AI strategies start with a strong data base.

Jason Mills, Senior Vice President of Solutions Engineering at Cloudera, talks to TheCube about Cloudera Evolve25's AI strategy.

Cloudera's Jason Mills will be taking part in TheCube on Cloudera Evolve25 to discuss AI strategy and hybrid deployments.

For the foundations of these data to be at the root of the future, it is important to have a sustainable scale discipline. Without a clear plan for data, even the most daring efforts will risk a pilot stall, according to Jason Mills, senior vice president of Solutions Engineering at Cloudera Inc.

“Customers are turning to us to help define our data strategy,” he said. “[Because] Without a data strategy, there is no AI strategy. ”

Mills spoke with Dave Velante of The Cube on Cloudera Evolve25. This was spoken on an exclusive broadcast on TheCube, Siliconangle Media's LiveStreaming Studio. They discussed the role of hybrid deployments in aligning AI strategies with data strategies. (*Disclosure below.)

AI strategy beyond the pilot phase

Enterprises are currently defining AI strategies around hybrid models that allow workloads to travel between on-premises systems and the cloud. According to Mills, this allows businesses to control costs while maintaining agility.

“What we're talking about is the difference between on-prem deployments of machine learning or AI models and cloud deployments,” he said. “For our biggest customers, we are looking at ways to explode into the cloud, so they can have a high agile solution within their environment.”

A more difficult step is turning pilots into production. According to Mills, AI strategies cannot improve their efficiency and security commitments, so many organizations are trapped in “sofar as they are trapped in “sofar as they” but cannot move forward.

“If the AI model is not very accurate for the questions or use cases you are trying to deal with, you'll stay in pilot mode,” he said. “If the cost of that AI model is actually predicted, again, it stays in pilot mode. That's part of understanding. It's how you need to pay attention to platforms like Cloudera and provide the ability to manage the entire AI ecosystem.”
