Evoto expands AI-powered desktop capabilities

Have you ever noticed that you were buried under a mountain of raw files after filming a massive e-commerce shoot or a busy weekend wedding or event? Evoto has announced some major updates and new tools that you'd like to hear.

Evoto One, the team behind AI-powered retouching software, has announced many updates and new tools designed to streamline workflows for photographers and videographers. We're talking about smarter culling, cloud collaboration, improved tether shooting experiences, mobile apps for photographers on the go, and even dedicated video retouching programs that allow video professional access to the same retouch workflow that many photographers have become dependent on.

There are tons to unpack from this launch. Luckily we were able to spend time trying out different new tools in person at the event and broke it all below.

Evoto Desktop 6.0: AI-powered workflow for professional photographers

Evoto Desktop 6.0: AI-powered workflow for professional photographers

Let's start with Big One: Evoto Desktop 6.0. If you've used Evoto before, you may know that many portrait and event photographers have incorporated AI retouching toolsets into your editing workflow. With the 6.0 release, Evoto introduces a wealth of additions to notify and earn competitors such as Adobe.

  • ai culling: When importing images into Evoto, AI Culling can quickly create selections by identifying images where the subject's eyes are closed or various other customizable variables that are blurred or unexposed. Better yet, you can also identify similar frames and create “top picks” recommendations. This is poised to save a lot of time for a large number of photographers.
  • Cloud Space: Cloud Space allows you to seamlessly sync edits, tags, effects and metadata across multiple devices and team members in a single Evoto account. Currently, Evoto 6.0 has two flavors of cloud space.

    • My space (Hello Tom!): For solo photographers using multiple instances of Evoto on various machines, such as desktops and laptops.
    • Team Space: For enterprise customers such as photo studios and Atens, where multiple users need to collaborate on projects across devices.
  • Improved tethering features: Evoto 6.0 includes wireless tethering, real-time live view, and secondary display support. These are essential features that many studios and commercial photographers rely on every day. Tethered Shooting supports over 1,000 camera models from leading camera manufacturers such as Canon, Nikon and Sony. See the full compatibility list: https://support.evoto.ai/tethered-shooting-supported-camera-model/
  • Extended AI tools for color correction, background adjustment, retouching, and more: This latest release of Evoto includes many new AI-driven features, including automatic white balance and exposure compensation, automatic perspective distortion compensation, and improved background cleanup.
  • Smarter file management for large projects: The overall Evoto user experience has been improved. With new project groups, new library panel customizations, and the ability to add collections to libraries, photographers adjust their workspaces to make them perfect for their workflows.

Existing Evoto desktop users can test new AI culling and tethering features for free for a limited period of time (until November this year), according to Evoto representatives. Cloud Space is currently in beta and will be rolled out to all users later this fall.

Evoto Instant: Mobile Editing for Wedding and Event Photographers

Evoto Instant: Mobile Editing for Wedding and Event Photographers

This is where things get interesting. Evoto Instant brings curated versions of desktop Evoto Experience to iOS and Android, making it perfect for events and wedding photographers who don't wait to return to their editing station and start curation.

  • Mobile Tether Shooting: Evoto Instant allows you to connect your camera to your mobile phone with over 1,000 support for the most popular camera models on the market (see compatibility list above). You can also upload images edited directly from your phone automatically or manually.
  • ai culling in-the-the-go: When enabled, AI Culling automatically analyzes and tags uploaded images based on focus, exposure, and duplication, giving you a head start before you return home from shooting.
  • Apply presets and retouches instantly: Add presets via the mobile app or web interface and automatically apply images when imported to your phone. Existing Evoto desktop users can access Evoto presets by signing using the same account.
  • Live brand preview for clients: Displays client images in real time with edits already applied to custom branded web gallery. Perfect for immediate feedback and sneak peaks. If necessary, you can also pass through the image on the spot.
  • Smart facial recognition: Advanced facial recognition helps identify specific individuals across large groups. Guests and clients can easily find images of themselves using the Find Me feature by uploading quick selfies that will be deleted immediately after the personalized gallery is created. This is a game changer for weddings, events, etc.

Download Evoto Instant for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All users include 6GB of free storage, with all features locked from now until November. The price structure is TBD.

Evoto Video: AI retouching for videographers and hybrid shooters

Evoto Video: AI retouching for videographers and hybrid shooters

This is what caught everyone off guard: Evoto Video. In addition to recent images, more and more clients are requesting videos, so many photographers are facing Hercules' challenges to adapt their still workflow to movement. Previously, video retouching subjects were impossible or extremely cost-reducing, leaving color matching to professional colorists. Evoto Video, photographers, videographers and hybrid shooters now have access to the same AI retouching and color enhancements that have now relied on Evoto Desktop's still images for video. At launch, Evoto Video supports up to 4K import and export in .MP4 and .MOV formats.

  • Video portrait retouching: Evoto Video features the same AI-powered retouching feature that has come to love on Evoto's desktops.
  • AI-equipped color matching: Easily apply color grades from the reference image or apply clips with just one click. No more wrestling with 3D LUTS to match shots of footage under different cameras and different lighting conditions.
  • Batch Processing: Edits created in small sections can be synchronized across the entire video.
  • Face recognition: The function to fine-tune your individual adjustments automatically detects faces.
  • preset: It includes many recommended presets for typical portrait retouch scenarios, with the ability to create additional customizable retouching and color grading presets that can be applied to a variety of video projects.

Evoto Video is still open to the public, with the beta coming out in November. You can request access to the beta at video.evoto.ai. The price structure is TBD.
