Delhi police have registered an FIR against Congress party over an AI-generated video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother Heilaven Modi.
The lawsuit was filed in 2023 under several sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following complaints by Sanket Gupta, convener of the BJP Delhi election cell.
The FIR is related to a September 10th post from the official handle of Platform X's Congress Bihar unit.

Controversy broke out after Bihar Congress on September 10 shared a video generated by AI on social media. This appears to show the view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother Heeraben Modi. The video was captioned in Hindi, translated into “Mother Appears in Sahab's Dream.”
The 36-second clip marked “generated by AI” shows a dream sequence where a character similar to Prime Minister Modi sees a dead mother talking to him. The Congress has not explained the purpose of the video, but has sparked strong criticism from the BJP and JD (U), who called it a sign of “cheap politics” and “frustration and decline of values.”

BJP is an object in video generated by AI
The BJP strongly opposed the post, calling “nasty” and humiliated not only to Prime Minister Modi's mother, but also to all mothers and sisters in the country. The party said the parliament has surpassed all the limits of political decency.
The BJP has condemned the video and accused the Congress of continuing to target the late Heeraben Modi. “First, the abusive slogan was yelled. Now, a video has been made to humiliate her. Congress should be embarrassed at how low it will be,” the party said in a post on X.

The controversy comes days after the offensive slogan that Prime Minister Modi's mother was raised from the Congress RJD stage during Rahul Gandhi's “Addakal Yatra of Voters” rally in Darbanga, Bihar.
With elections approaching in Bihar, the BJP said it was a deliberate attempt to demand an apology and strict action against those behind the post, and to hurt public sentiment for political interests.
