Stuck in a soap opera with space, zombie football players and cats. We live in an age where YouTube is almost overflowing with videos created by artificial intelligence. Such a rapid rise in channels means that a significant amount of content is generated by AI rather than the person behind the camera.
Among the 100 fastest growing channels of the past month, nine purely AI videos have been released, according to Analytics. Examples include plots in which a baby is packed into a rocket just before a lift-off into space, unusual images of sports stars, and melodrama featuring anthropomorphized cats.
The popularity of such materials has increased with the emergence of powerful video creation tools such as Veo 3 and Grok Imagine. The total number of subscribers for these channels is in the millions. Approximately 1.6 million people will run on the Baby In Space Channel and approximately 4 million people will run on the anthropomorphic Cat Channel.
Most of these videos fall under the “AI Slop” category. Mass production of low-quality content, surreal content and creepy, but it shows the increasing technical sophistication of AI content.
«All content uploaded to YouTube, regardless of how it was created, falls under community guidelines. »
After enquiries to the platform, some channels were removed and others reported limited monetization. No exact numbers or names are specified.
Digital culture experts have described the AI-Video generator as the next wave of “pollution” on the internet. This is the term first proposed by authors who expressed concern about the quality of online content. According to him, AI content can undermine user trust by replacing high-quality materials with a “trash” version.
«AI Slop fills the internet with content that is essentially garbage. This pollution undermines Pinterest's online community, competes for revenue with Spotify artists, and fills YouTube with low-quality content. »
He also added that one way of adjustment is to ban the monetization of AI content, which reduces the incentive to create it. Such steps can reduce the appeal of the platform for the mass production of AI video.
Ryan Broderick, author of The Garbage Day Newsletter, has sharply criticised the impact of AI videos on YouTube, calling the platform for nasty AI clips and questionable content the “trash bin.”
Along with YouTube, Instagram is also experiencing AI content flow. The reel features a celebrity hybrid head on the animal body, depicting millions of visions. Tiktok is also watching viral AI videos. Especially interesting scenarios where stories and cats compete in rare contests. On the other hand, the platform requires realistic AI video labeling using deep fur section systems to reduce the risk of misinformation and manipulation.
