The Ministry of Defense said the video linked to Moldova's ongoing fire relief drills was incorrect. This footage has nothing to do with this year's exercise.
According to the ministry, the videos distributed on Telegram contain scenes with AI generated. It shows participants allegedly fired with targets similar to Russian soldiers. The video also includes clips from past international exercises.
“These video materials have nothing to do with this year's exercise. The airplanes, parachute jumps, terrain features and other elements in the video do not reflect the reality of the Fire Shield 2025 exercise,” the ministry said.
The ministry believes fake videos are intended to spread fear, undermine trust in national institutions, and destabilize society.
Military Exercises in Moldova
Fire station drills will be held from August 4th to 19th. They will involve soldiers from the Moldovan army, along with Romanian and American troops.
The exercise will be held at the National Military Training Center. Military vehicles can be seen moving across roads across the country.
Previously, Alexander Masteata, director of the Republic of Moldova's Security and Intelligence Reporting Agency, said Russia had prepared a plan to destabilize Moldova.
It is said that Moscow intends to interfere in the country's presidential election and disrupt the referendum on European integration. Musteata said in 2023 Moldova intercepted a record level of Russian intelligence reporting.
Recently, the so-called “Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” sought “protection against Moldavian”.
